Messy Hair, Don’t Care

Hello my loves!

For as long as I can remember I have always admired women with curly, wavy or tousled hair. There’s a certain kind of freedom from tossled locks. I suppose that could be my wanna be bohemian coming out in me. There’s a restless spirit inside me that I choose to free by wearing my hair a little tousled.

I remember as far back as middle school (because this is when I took notice of my own appearance) that I always loved the girl with not so perfectly feathered bangs. My idea of beauty was not exactly like everyone else.

In the summer I wore my hair long & loose. And even better yet was real beach waves! I felt so glamorous with my mermaid hair flowing down my back after a day splashing in the water.

My inspiration for my look comes from a few key women. Most noticeably Meg Ryan. Who can begin to describe her gorgeous wild hair…

I remember thinking how cool it was that an adult had messy hair. In reality I don’t think Meg is that much older than me.

And then is the ravishing Michelle Pfeiffer. Selina Kyle, Catwoman, from the Batman Returns movie, was my girl crush. Those tousled locks were purr-fection. Me-ow!

Even tamed waves fabulously frame her beautiful face.

More recently my focus shifted to Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw.  Who didn’t want to be a writer and live fashionably? Always the trend setter, Carrie kept you enthralled with her sense of style,  including her notorious waves.

Sorry for the chest exposure. Even still, how lovely…

I choose this look because I want to be uniquely me. Sometimes I feel as though I may be pushing the envelope, but I know who I am and how I see myself. I may work as a receptionist, but I am anything but boring!

Is there someone you admire for their sense of style? Post in the comments below.

Statement Coats

I believe a coat should be functional as well as a fashion statement. More than that, it should say something about the individual wearing it.  Here’s a fun way to choose your new outer wear.

Personality types & coats….

The Realist….something structured and classic keep in her stylish and warm. Military style suits her well.

Green Beauty

Hello dolls!

For a while now I have been using natural beauty products, either organic, natural, and/or a mix of the two.  I want to share some of my favorites with you in this post. But first let me just give you a bit of my background. I am a cancer survivor who was pumped full of chemicals. NOT complaining! I feel very blessed to be with you.  I have mature, combination skin.  If you are of certain age, you know what a pain this is.

Here are some of my top favorite green beauty products:

Yes To Cucumbers Calming Micellar Water which you can find here http://www.target.com/p/yes-to-174-cucumbers-calming-micellar-water-3-3-oz.

I decided to try this after seeing it at Walgreens . I knew the Yes To line was well liked so I decided to give it was worth looking into.

YES TO Cucs

Pros: It very gently removes makeup and leaves my skin feeling cool and refreshed. Besides that I love it because it is moisturizing. Bye bye breakouts!!

Gabriel Cosmetics/Zuzu. I can not say enough about this company and their cosmetic line. I have tried mascara, eye shadows, blush and lipsticks. All of their makeups are mineral based. I have a bad reaction to MOST  eye shadows. My eye lids actually bubble up and itch like the dickens. But I have not had any trouble with this brand. Hallelujah! The mascara wears nicely. It’s not clumpy like some cheap drug store brands and is easy to remove with soap and water. Their lipsticks wear like a dream. I DO like to wear a lip gloss underneath as my lips are naturally dry.  Their blush is whisper soft. And it does not break me out. I’ve been using a tester (of the original size) and it lasts a good long time. I just bought my first blusher to replace it. I also received some ZuZu shadows. The pigments are beautiful! They are very smooth and apply easily and  come in a wonderful assortment of colors.AmmunitionPalette ZuZu

Gabriel TeaRose lipstick

I buy my makeup directly from their website…http://www.gabrielcosmetics.com. It does take a wee bit of time to receive but it’s definately worth the wait.

The last brand I want to share with you is the Shea Moisture line. Another super moisturizer!! I use their soaps. Coconut & Hibiscus is a lovely fragrance. It lathers very well and caresses your skin. This gentle line leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft. A gentle scent is left behind which adds to a luxe experience.  The line itself comes in a large variety of fragrances and products. I’ve also tried their makeup line. I purchased a Shea Moisture face powder to try (I needed to replace a line I had previously used). I am pretty happy with the results even if it doesn’t contain any SPF. Also, you may want to buy it in a shade slighter darker than your complextion.

Target Shea Moisture

These are just a couple of my favorite lines. I am not being paid to give this review by any of these companies. I just wanted to share what works for me. Do you have a favorite natural beauty product you’d like to share? Please do in the comments section below. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
