Chic Fall Outfits

Hey loves!

Sorry I was away for such a very long time. You know how sometimes you have a mental block and before you know it time has completely gotten away from you? Well…That’s me. Lol!

Because I was having a mental block, I headed over to my favorite place to find inspiration, Pinterest. There I found some truly amazing outfits to help you look chic while staying cozy this fall. Without further ado…

The Bardot sweater may never go out of style. Wear it with jeans and boots for a casual afternoon jaunt to the library. What’s better than a cozy evening in with a good book or movie?

Neutrals can go miles in your wardrobe! Although this nicely layered outfit is made up of neutrals, there is a good mix of textures and  whisper pink which helps keep it interesting.  Quick tip: Always wear your sunnies in the fall and winter when the sun is closest to the earth.

A bright fall colored sweater adds pizzazz to basic denim. I like the long tunic style sweaters worn over skinny jeans. Slip on a pair of  flat heeled boots and a fun scarf and it’s casual weekend wear.

Teal is so perfect for any time of the year. This rich tone that marries well with the many shades brown. I like the whimsy of the  peacock feather earrings and plaid scarf  in this set.

Remember that chambray shirt you couldn’t get enough of? It gets new life when worn under a sweater. An unexpected statement necklace in place of a scarf keeps this outfit fresh. *Note the animal print flats*

Loving this nature inspired look. I love long hikes through the woods, especially this time of the year when the leaves are turning their gorgeous colors and softly crunching underfoot. You can take that feeling along with you by pairing a colorful sweater, jeans and a pair of hiking style boots.

Flannels are still hot. Layer them over tees and tanks to keep you cozy. Add skinny jeans with boot socks and leave your shirt untucked or wear high waisted jeans and tie up your flannel.

Lastly, a light sweater in a rich tone worn with jeans, an animal print coat and simple jewelry. So chic!!

There are so many great sets on Pinterest to give you inspiration on how to style your own wardrobe. All of these came from Pinterest and I claim no ownership to them. I will share some of my own style boards in a future post.

Thrift Like a Pro

Hello loves!!

I am not a clothing snob. I don’t intentionally look for designer brands when shopping because, let’s be honest, I can’t afford them. I hunt for bargains when I shop. I enjoy quality clothing as well as accessories. Since my divorce and a big move a few years ago I have learned to hone my shopping skills and stretch my money. This is a good thing because I was quite the “mall rat” before.

20180211_170739

This 100% wool cardigan by Cynthia Rowley is a staple piece in my wardrobe. My multi colored scarf, also thrifted, was a  gift.

There are so many reasons to buy pre-owned items. It is good for the environment.  Less waste because you are saving an item from a landfill. You can find one of a kind items like a handmade skirt.  An item has history… think of that beaded bag you found from the 60s! It’s an inexpensive way to try a trend and you won’t feel guilty if it’s not really “you”. It’s an inexpensive way to shop, especially for college students or new moms.

Thrited cordurouy jacket and American Eagle jeans.

Here are some tips on how you can shop like a pro when going thrifting.  The first thing I learned it to relax. Don’t go out planning to find a particular item because it can be much like a treasure hunt. You may or may not find that special item so be patient.

Do have an idea of what you already have at home. If you have a collection of jeans, you probably don’t need another pair. Think of what is lacking in your wardrobe.

Shop more than one section. I am small so I search the womens and the juniors racks. Grab some items you wouldn’t ordinarily choose such as a trendy pant or blouse. You may find a new love!

Try everything on. Don’t think just because it is marked the size you normally wear that it’s going to fit.  I can’t tell you how many times I have found the cutest top, but when I tried it on it was not cared for properly and was either stretched or shrunken.  (Do not let this discourage you. I take a TON of stuff in the dressing room for this very reason)

20180308_123645

I love this lilac cashmere sweater. It’s so warm  and I like dressing it up with different scarves from my collection.

Once you’ve tried your items on and decided what you love, check them  over. Are there any stains or holes? Are there buttons missing ? If so, can you either fix it or live with it the way it is?

20180505_171630

The red boho shirt above is a perfect example of an item that was not well cared for. I hadn’t checked it thoroughly and completely missed a few small holes on the bottom. Thankfully they are unnoticeable!

I don’t always shop with a friend, but if you do and you are unsure of the fit of an item it is good to have someone there who will give you an honest evaluation.

Lastly, BEFORE you get to the sales wrap, look at the items you chose once more. Sometimes you will discover you already have a simular item at home. This is where you can weed out what  don’t really need or were still deciding on.

Dior’s Ready to Wear Collection for Spring

Hello gorgeous!!

I was browsing the internet when I came across the Spring ready to wear collection by Dior. It completely took me by surprise! This collection is 70’s inspired and geared more towards the millenniums, but I found some great takeaways for all ages. Are you ready?! Let’s get started.

Maria Grazia Chiuri’s  collection for Dior was inspired by all of the female artists who were never truly recognized for their brilliance. The quote ” Why are there no great women artists?” on the striped boatneck top above is in reference to just that. Worn with wide legged jeans, this is a classic look.

Overalls get a new look in leather. A striped long sleeve shirt and beret gives it a French vibe. Loving this look.

Polka dots on sheer fabrics. What is not to love about this look? Ok… other than the fact that the length is pretty short.  Imagine a colorful cami beneath this, black skinny jeans and your favorite pair of booties.  Perfect for a casual weekend.

A graphic sweater?! YES!! This whole outfit is my personal favorite. Everything here is wearable. I love the idea of layering (and I do it often). Shorts+ Blouse+ Sweater= Fabulous style!

The silhouette above is so sensual. If you’ve ever tried a pencil skirt, you know what I am talking about. For a grown up look, I would wear this skirt with a cropped cardigan. Perhaps one with some embroidery, pearls, or some other embellishment.

Another look at a graphic sweater. I like Godzilla movies and would love to get my hands on this sweater. Hello, Forever 21, do you hear me?!

I am a texture freak. I have been since I was a kid. And I love the mixture of this delicate fabric toughened up with the leather jacket. From girlie to edgy!

Which of these looks speak to you? How would you wear them? Please leave a comment below with your own style ideas.

Bohemian Woman

Hello gorgeous!

Recently someone mentioned on an online thrifting group I moderate, Thrifting, that they can’t  pull off the Bohemian look. I think we can all identify with that feeling regarding one style or another. So I want to share some “stylespiration” with you. Are you ready?! Let’s go!!

The bohemian woman woman is a free spirit. She is an explorer. She is creative. She is a peacekeeper. So her clothing must speak this.

c33415584ff6bb4a2ed57578670b5753

Because she is so colorful, she chooses vibrant clothing. Sometimes she does this via fabrics or prints.

137994c02b0846ff0b1b76ab5e820fb1

Lightweight, free flowing fabrics flutter about her gracing her silhouette.

e4b4443a991fb859a79387321723c9d8

She uses strategically placed accessories to complete her look.

7695c1766208c1875061abb10fbaca6b

Fringe, lace, leather, beads, tassles, embroidery. All these she calls her friends.

As you can see, there are many ways you can add this look to your wardrobe.  Think texture. c0acec84a01ca15ba6b4454cfdbc7db0Pair your shorts or jeans with a tee shirt and a cropped or long length coat with boots to gain a boho vibe. Toss on a long or chunky statement necklace, dangly earrings and some rings to complete your ensemble.  Below is an example of how I would create a bohemian summer look.

Or modify this look with a floaty maxi dress, beaded sandals, and a natural stone jewelry.

The Bohemian woman breathes easy. She is confident. She is fearless. She is in each of us.

Are you ready to take a walk on the wild side?
